Pernambuco wood, Caesalpinia echinata is traditionally used to make fine modern-style bows.  However, this wood is being increasingly harvested in what some consider an unsustainable pace.  An organization called the International Pernambuco Conservation Initiative (IPCI) has been formed to help examine and work towards truly sustainable usage of pernambuco.
